VPD (Vapour Pressure Deficit) is het verschil tussen de hoeveelheid vocht in de lucht en de maximale hoeveelheid die de lucht bij een bepaalde temperatuur kan bevatten. In gecontroleerde kweekruimtes bepaalt VPD de transpiratiesnelheid van planten β met invloed op voedingsopname, stomatair gedrag en algemene groeisnelheid.
