Besi terkelat adalah besi (Fe) yang telah terikat secara kimiawi ke molekul organik (kelat) agar tetap larut dan tersedia bagi tanaman dalam larutan nutrisi. Besi tak terkelat dengan cepat teroksidasi dan mengendap keluar dari larutan pada tingkat pH pertumbuhan normal, menjadi tidak dapat diakses oleh akar tanaman. Agen pengkelat yang paling umum adalah EDTA (stabil hingga pH 6.0), DTPA (stabil hingga pH 6.5), dan EDDHA (stabil hingga pH 9.0).
