Carbon Filter

A carbon filter (also called a charcoal filter or carbon scrubber) is an odour control device used in indoor growing spaces. Air is drawn through a cylinder packed with activated carbon, which adsorbs volatile organic compounds (VOCs) β€” including plant odours β€” before the air is exhausted from the grow space.

Key Facts

  • Activated carbon adsorbs VOCs and plant odours through a chemical bonding process
  • Connected between the grow space and the exhaust fan via ducting
  • Matched to the inline fan by CFM (cubic feet per minute) rating for effective scrubbing
  • Lifespan: 12–24 months depending on humidity and usage intensity
  • High humidity reduces effectiveness β€” keep relative humidity below 70% in the grow space
  • Available in various sizes to match tent volume and fan capacity
